LAKEVIEW PLANTATION — An 80-year-old man with memory and physical health issues who went missing from his camp was found lying in a ditch about two miles away on Aug. 11.
The Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Office received a report at approximately 4 p.m. that the man was missing from his camp on Railroad Bed Road in Lakeview Plantation.
Sheriff Young, three deputies and Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife wardens responded to the scene.
Due to high temperatures, the Milo and Brownville fire departments were dispatched to assist in the search.
Several concerned citizens and neighbors also helped look for the man.
About an hour after arriving at the scene, a responding game warden located the man in the ditch.
The man had minor injuries and was showing signs of dehydration.
Three Rivers Ambulance transported him to Northern Light Mayo Hospital for evaluation.
