Auburn man arrested after paintball shooting incident in Throop

THROOP — A 21-year-old Auburn man was arrested after allegedly shooting paintballs at a house on State Street Road.

Chase A. Towers was charged with third-degree criminal tampering, a Class B misdemeanor, according to Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck.

Deputies responded to the State Street Road address at approximately 3:05 a.m. Aug. 7 for reports of an individual in a vehicle shooting paintballs at a caller’s house.

Auburn Police Department officers located a vehicle matching the description and followed it to an address in Auburn.

Deputies responded to the Auburn address and observed Towers, who matched the description provided, with a paintball gun and paintballs throughout the vehicle.

Towers was arrested at approximately 3:09 a.m. and issued an appearance ticket.

He is scheduled to appear in Throop Town Court on Aug. 12.
