Stamford police investigate incident outside mosque

STAMFORD — The Stamford Police Department is investigating a disturbance that occurred in front of the Islamic Center at 1558 Washington Blvd. on Aug. 9.

Police conducted an initial investigation on Aug. 10 into the reported incident.

The disturbance involved derogatory statements made by a male motorist who stopped in front of the center and verbally engaged with several congregants, according to police.

The investigation is being conducted through the Department’s Bureau of Investigation in consultation with the State’s Attorney’s Office.

The male involved in the incident has been identified, police said.
