Tewksbury police arrest two women on drug charges after investigation

TEWKSBURY — Two women were arrested Friday by Tewksbury Police following a narcotics investigation, according to Chief Ryan Columbus.

Sophie Olson, 35, of Boston, was charged with two counts of possession with intent to distribute a Class B drug (subsequent offense), distributing a Class B drug (subsequent offense), possession of a Class C drug (subsequent offense), and possession with intent to distribute a Class E drug.

Olson also has three active arrest warrants out of Haverhill District Court.

Ashley Martinez, 33, of Lawrence, was arrested and charged with possession of a Class A drug (subsequent offense), two counts of possession with intent to distribute a Class B drug (subsequent offense), distributing a Class B drug (subsequent offense), and possession with intent to distribute a Class E drug.

The Tewksbury Police Department’s Narcotics Unit began investigating crack cocaine distribution in July and identified Olson as the target of the investigation.

Police said that around 1:30 p.m. Friday, Olson and Martinez, who was a passenger in the vehicle, were taken into custody without incident in the area of 365 Main St.

Detectives seized an undisclosed amount of fentanyl, crack cocaine, cocaine, Xanax, cash, and materials believed to be used for narcotics distribution.

The Middlesex Sheriff’s Office and the Andover Police Department assisted in the arrests.

Olson and Martinez are scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Lowell District Court.
