SOUTHBURY — A dog was found abandoned in a parking lot on Feb. 22.

The dog, later identified as Reggie, required veterinary care and was taken to a local animal hospital before being transferred to the Southbury Animal Control Shelter.

Animal Control Officer Cedor identified the suspect’s vehicle and referred the case to Southbury police.

Officer Rywolt obtained an arrest warrant for 21-year-old Jamese Williams of East Haven.

Williams was located in Milford on Aug. 6 and taken into custody.

He was charged with animal cruelty and tethering a dog to an object, then released on a $5,000 bond.

Williams is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Aug. 18.

Reggie was adopted by Southbury Police Detective Critelli and has since recovered.
