Pedestrian struck after dispute outside local bar in Rome

ROME — Officers responded to a report of a dispute at the Ramblin Inn on North James Street early Friday.

The call came in at approximately 2 a.m. after a physical altercation began inside the bar and spilled into the street.

While en route, police were notified that a vehicle had struck a pedestrian at the same location.

Investigators say a suspect entered a vehicle and drove recklessly along North James Street before hitting the victim, who had stepped into the roadway.

The driver fled before officers arrived.

The victim suffered a fractured leg, chest bruises, and spinal fractures.

The incident remains under active investigation.
