STOCKHOLM — A Madrid man was arrested Aug. 6 after allegedly fleeing police in a motor vehicle earlier this year.

Preston S. Premo, 35, was charged with unlawfully fleeing a police officer in the third degree.

The incident began April 30 at approximately 8:32 a.m. when troopers observed a green 2005 Chevrolet violating traffic laws on State Highway 420.

The driver failed to stop when troopers activated their emergency lights and led police on a pursuit.

The chase ended on Sober Street in Norfolk, where the driver fled on foot into a wooded area.

Multiple agencies, including the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department and U.S. Border Patrol, assisted in the search.

Premo was located and arrested without incident Aug. 6 on N. Main Street in Norfolk.

He was processed at SP Massena and issued vehicle and traffic tickets.

Premo was arraigned in Norfolk Town Court and released on his own recognizance.
