Livonia man arrested on felony drug charges after Avon traffic stop

AVON — Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of a Livonia resident on felony drug charges following a traffic stop on Interstate 390 in the Town of Avon.

On Aug. 6 at approximately 11:42 p.m., Livingston County Sheriff’s Deputy Jerry Pilkenton was assigned to the Sheriff’s Office Highway Patrol Unit when he observed a vehicle operating south on Interstate 390 in violation of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law.

The deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and identified a passenger as 19-year-old Jacob Priestly of Livonia.

The deputy suspected drug activity in the vehicle and conducted a drug investigation.

As a result of the investigation, Priestly was found to be in possession of a quantity of cocaine.

Priestly was arrested and charged with felony Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree and felony Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree.

Priestly was transported and turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for arrest processing and pre-arraignment detention.

Priestly was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC-CAP) at the Livingston County Jail before the Town of Lima Justice Harris.

The judge released Priestly on his own recognizance as the offenses do not qualify for bail under the NYS Bail Reform Act.
