HORSEHEADS — A 75-year-old bicyclist died Wednesday after being struck by a motorhome in Horseheads.
The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office responded to the intersection of Lake Road and Owens Street around 4:03 p.m. for a personal injury accident involving a bicycle and a motorhome.
Investigators determined Timothy Maney, of Elmira, was riding southbound on Lake Road’s shoulder when he suddenly entered the driving lane and was struck by a southbound motorhome.
Maney suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Arnot Ogden Hospital, where he later died.
Authorities said Maney was at fault for the accident.
No charges will be filed against the motorhome driver.
The Elmira Heights Police Department, Elmira Heights Fire Department and Erway Ambulance assisted at the scene.
