Albany, NY teen charged in shooting on Old Hickory Drive

ALBANY — A 17-year-old male has been charged in connection with a shooting incident on Old Hickory Drive.

On Friday, July 25, around 2 p.m., a walk-in report was filed regarding a shooting that occurred earlier that morning near Shaker Road.

Officers responded to Old Hickory Drive and located a scene with evidence consistent with gunfire.

Detectives determined two victims were approached by two individuals, leading to a physical altercation.

The 17-year-old struck one victim in the head with a handgun, causing injury.

As the victims attempted to leave, the teen fired multiple rounds, striking their vehicle.

The suspect was identified and taken into custody early yesterday morning.

He has been charged with two counts of attempted murder in the second degree, one count of criminal use of a firearm in the first degree, and one count of assault in the second degree.

The teen was arraigned yesterday afternoon in Albany County Family Court and remanded to the Capital District Juvenile Secure Detention Facility.

His name was not released due to his age.
