EAST MILLINOCKET — Officer Knappe of the East Millinocket Police Department responded to a report of a burglary at a residence in Millinocket on July 30.
The victim reported signs of forced entry at a family member’s home and the theft of various household items and valuables.
The victim also reported a suspicious power cord running from their residence to a neighboring home, raising concerns of electricity theft.
Through investigative efforts, Officer Knappe developed information leading to a search warrant for the residence of Dana Preston, 51, of Millinocket.
Officers executed the search warrant at Preston’s residence on July 31.
During the search, officers recovered all reported stolen property, as well as an illegal firearm and additional suspected stolen items.
Preston was arrested and charged with burglary, theft and possession of stolen property.
The investigation remains active.
