Somerville police investigate armed robbery, assaults on Broadway

SOMERVILLE — Police responded to an armed robbery at a business on Broadway July 29 at approximately 4:08 p.m.

An employee told officers a male suspect entered the store asking to buy cigarettes before brandishing a knife and demanding money from the register.

The suspect fled the area after the robbery.

In a separate incident, police responded to Broadway July 30 at approximately 1:26 p.m. for a past assault report.

A juvenile victim told officers she was approached by a male suspect July 25 who grabbed her arm.

The juvenile pulled her arm away and fled the area.

Police also responded to Broadway Aug. 3 at approximately 12:50 a.m. for a larceny report.

The victim told officers she was walking home when a male suspect approached her and grabbed a chain from her neck before fleeing on a bicycle.

Officers responded to Elm Street Aug. 2 at approximately 11:00 a.m. for a fight between two males.

Police also reported five package thefts, three vandalisms, three motor vehicle thefts, two bike thefts, two motor vehicle vandalisms and two car breaks during the period.
