LANSING — New York State Police at Ithaca are seeking to identify a woman who allegedly passed a counterfeit bill at a local hardware store.
The incident occurred July 7 when the woman entered ACE Hardware on N. Triphammer Road.
Police say the woman appeared to be attempting to confuse an employee by asking to exchange bills.
Investigators later discovered the suspect had given the cashier a fake $10 bill with the word “replica” written on it.
