ENOSBURGH — Vermont State Police arrested a 35-year-old Sheldon man Sunday after he allegedly fled from officers while a juvenile was in his vehicle.
Tyler Andersen faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident, eluding, cruelty to a child and resisting arrest.
Police received a 911 call at 11:09 a.m. regarding a citizen dispute on Tyler Branch Road.
Andersen had allegedly taken a young child from his wife and left her on the side of the road without transportation, according to police.
Troopers made contact with Andersen, who agreed to meet at the barracks for follow-up regarding the welfare of him and his child.
When St. Albans Police Department officers arrived at the barracks to assist Vermont State Police, Andersen fled after colliding with a St. Albans police cruiser while a juvenile was in the back seat.
St. Albans police officers pursued Andersen at speeds at or near the posted speed limits.
Andersen eventually stopped approximately 4 miles north of the barracks on Pond Road in Swanton.
He was taken into custody after resisting arrest.
