Providence woman arrested on drug, obstruction charges

PROVIDENCE — Troopers arrested a 60-year-old Cranston woman Friday on drug possession and obstruction charges following a motor vehicle stop.

Erin Burton Isom of 45 Warwick Avenue was taken into custody at 11:15 a.m. on Sherry Street.

She faces charges of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance greater than 10 grams and less than 1 ounce, specifically crack cocaine.

Isom also was charged with obstruction of officer in execution of duty.

An outstanding arrest warrant for larceny from the Cranston Police Department led to an additional charge.

She was transported to State Police headquarters for processing before being turned over to Sixth District Court for arraignment.

Isom was presented as a bail violator at her court appearance.

In a separate incident Saturday, troopers arrested Jose Castro Ventura, 32, of 130 Hillwood Street, Apt. 2, Cranston, at 1:01 a.m.

The arrest occurred during a motor vehicle stop on Hillwood Street in Cranston.

Ventura was charged with driving under the influence of an intoxicating liquor, second offense, with blood alcohol content unknown.

He also was charged with refusal to submit to a chemical test, first offense.

Ventura was processed at the State Police Lincoln Woods Barracks and arraigned by a justice of the peace.

He was released to the custody of a responsible adult.
