LISLE — A Marathon woman is facing multiple charges after reportedly hitting a deer while intoxicated, attempting to flee the scene and fighting with patrols in the Town of Lisle.

On Wednesday, July 30 at approximately 8:55 p.m., members of the Broome County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol responded to a 911 report of a motor vehicle crash possibly involving an intoxicated driver in the area of Route 26 in the Town of Nanticoke.

Witnesses reported that a grey Kia Forte had struck a deer on Route 26, and the driver, later identified as Bobbie Jo Davis, age 42 of Marathon, appeared loud and belligerent as other motorists pulled over at the scene to offer assistance.

As patrols made their way to the scene of the accident, Davis reportedly returned to her vehicle and, after several attempts, successfully started her car and fled the scene, traveling northbound, while occupying the southbound lane, on Route 26 toward Whitney Point.

Witnesses reported that the fleeing Kia drove erratically, nearly colliding with multiple other vehicles on the road.

BCSO Road Patrols located the vehicle on Route 79 in the Town of Lisle and attempted a traffic stop.

Despite the vehicle sustaining heavy front-end damage, with its front bumper smashed inward, the hood of the vehicle smashed upward toward the windshield obstructing the driver’s view, and other vehicle parts dragging on the pavement, Davis continued to flee patrols.

Ignoring emergency lights and sirens, Davis illegally crossed multiple lanes and drove through multiple stop signs before traveling north on Route 11, showing no concern for other vehicles’ safety.

Finally, the vehicle came to a stop and patrols quickly removed the keys from the ignition out of concern for public safety.

Throughout the subsequent traffic stop, Davis remained uncooperative, ignoring verbal commands, displayed slurred speech, balance issues and other significant signs leading law enforcement to suspect intoxication.

Following a field sobriety test, patrols placed Davis under arrest for DWI.

Upon being placed into custody, Davis continued to act belligerent, kicking the patrol vehicle multiple times before successfully slipping her left hand out of her handcuffs, fighting with patrols and attempting to escape.

After deputies successfully subdued Davis and placed her back in handcuffs, Davis continued to yell and kick at deputies until a leg restraint was utilized to limit further altercations.

During her transport to BCSO Highway Patrol for processing, Davis began banging her head against the window of the patrol vehicle, leading to Broome Volunteer Emergency Squad to respond and evaluate her for any possible injuries, of which none were found.

Following the investigation, Bobbie Jo Davis was charged with Reckless Endangerment in the 1st Degree, a Class D Felony; Driving While Intoxicated (1st Offense), a Misdemeanor; Resisting Arrest, a Class A Misdemeanor; Escape in the 3rd Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor; Obstruction of Governmental Administration in the 2nd Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor; and twelve traffic violations.

Davis was arraigned at Central Arraignment Part and released.

The Broome County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the New York State Police and the Broome Volunteer Emergency Squad.
