MERIDEN — During December of 2024, the Wallingford Police Department notified the Meriden Police Department’s Special Crimes Unit of a sexual assault that occurred in the city of Meriden.
The Special Crimes Unit initiated an investigation into this sexual assault, which uncovered that an 8-year-old was repeatedly sexually assaulted by Cody Cavrudatz, 46.
The special crimes unit uncovered an additional sexual assault which took place in Southington and reported this incident to the Southington Police Department.
The Meriden, Wallingford, and Southington Police Departments obtained arrest warrants against Cavrudatz for various charges relating to the sexual assault of a minor.
Cavrudatz’s whereabouts were unknown at the time that warrants were issued but, with the assistance of Homeland Security and the FBI, Cavrudatz was located in Griswold and placed under arrest on July 29.
Cavrudatz was held on an $800,000 surety bond.
Cavrudatz faces charges including two counts of sexual assault in the first degree, sexual assault in the second degree, sexual assault in the fourth degree and three counts of risk of injury to a minor.
