EAST HAVEN — A New Haven man was arrested on drug charges after police said he reversed into a patrol car while trying to flee a traffic stop.
Trea Marcel Fraser, 30, was taken into custody July 26 after Officer Stephen Marsico observed a white Dodge Avenger with illegal aftermarket window tint pull into a residence on Kimberly Avenue Extension at approximately 9:15 a.m.
Police said Fraser reversed into a marked police cruiser in an effort to flee as officers attempted to stop the vehicle.
Officers Stephen Marsico and Anthony Fiorillo quickly contained the vehicle and took Fraser into custody after a brief standoff, according to police.
A search of the vehicle and suspect led to the discovery of multiple baggies containing suspected crack cocaine and powder cocaine, narcotics packaging materials, and cash believed to be tied to street-level drug sales, police said.
East Haven Police K9 Mack, trained in narcotics detection, confirmed the presence of narcotics during the stop.
Additional concealed narcotics were discovered during a subsequent search at police headquarters, according to authorities.
Fraser was charged with possession of a controlled substance, sale of narcotics, interfering with an officer, disobeying the signal of an officer and illegal operation of a motor vehicle without a tint inspection.
He was held on $75,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in New Haven Superior Court on Aug. 6.
