WETHERSFIELD — A police officer working a traffic detail was nearly struck by a vehicle whose driver was experiencing a medical emergency on Wells Road on July 30.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:22 a.m. when a Ford Edge traveling eastbound on Wells Road near Edward Street left the roadway, according to Wethersfield police.
The Ford struck a Subaru traveling on Wells Road before colliding with a residence at 280 Wells Road and damaging an exterior natural gas line.
No injuries were reported as a result of the collision.
Emergency personnel, including the Wethersfield Volunteer Fire Department and medical responders, arrived at the scene.
The operator of the Ford was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.
A license seizure was conducted in accordance with state procedures due to the circumstances of the incident.
The Town of Wethersfield Building Department responded to assess structural damage to the residence.
Connecticut Natural Gas also responded and confirmed there was no gas leak or ongoing hazard.
The incident remains under investigation by the Wethersfield Police Department.
