UTICA — A 47-year-old Ilion woman has been charged with grand larceny after allegedly stealing more than $5,500 in benefits from a client at a local social service agency.
Loretta Becker was arrested July 29 following an investigation that began in March when Utica police received a report about an employee stealing a resident’s benefit card.
Police said Becker used the stolen benefits to purchase items and have food delivered to her personal residence.
The investigation revealed that over $5,500 in benefits were illegally obtained from the victim.
Due to the total amount involved, the case was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division.
Becker was charged with grand larceny in the third degree.
