Manchester man arrested after domestic violence incident on Morgan Street

MANCHESTER — A 21-year-old Manchester man was arrested July 28 following a domestic violence incident that required SWAT officers and a police K9 unit to locate him hiding in a crawl space.

Manchester Police responded to a Morgan Street address at approximately 1:10 p.m. for a report of a domestic violence incident in progress.

The victim reported that D’Montae Vilgrain of Manchester had strangled and physically assaulted her.

Vilgrain had fled the scene before officers arrived and was subsequently listed as wanted on several domestic violence-related charges.

At approximately 4:30 p.m., officers were called back to the same Morgan Street address after Vilgrain returned.

Responding officers gave loud verbal commands for him to exit the apartment, but he refused to comply.

SWAT officers and a police K9 unit were deployed.

Officers entered the building, and the K9 located Vilgrain hiding in a third-floor crawl space.

He was bitten and taken into custody.

Vilgrain is charged with second degree assault – domestic violence, strangulation – domestic violence, three counts of simple assault, simple assault – physical contact, resisting arrest, criminal mischief, and breach of bail.

He was scheduled for arraignment July 29.
