STAMFORD — The Stamford Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad is investigating a serious injury motor vehicle collision that occurred on Long Ridge Road near the intersection with Roxbury Road on Monday at approximately 9 p.m.
A 2007 Sterling full size dump truck was traveling southbound on Long Ridge Road.
The dump truck started to slow down because the traffic light on Long Ridge Road at Roxbury Road was cycling from green to red.
A 2024 Kia EV6 SUV was also traveling southbound on Long Ridge Road and hit the rear of the dump truck, causing severe damage to the Kia.
The operator of the Kia, a 48-year-old Stamford resident, suffered serious injuries in the collision.
The operator needed to be extricated from the vehicle due to the damage.
The injuries to the operator of the Kia, while serious, are not believed to be life threatening.
The operator of the dump truck was transported to Stamford Hospital for what appear to be minor injuries.
Speed is believed to be a factor in this collision.
Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
The investigation necessitated the partial closure of Long Ridge Road for approximately 3 hours.
