ELLENVILLE — Police are seeking four suspects aged 14 to 19 in connection with an assault that left two people hospitalized after being attacked with a baseball bat, knife and handgun.
The Ellenville Police Department responded to a call for an assault in progress with weapons at 8 Mill Street at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
Upon arrival, police discovered two victims who had sustained injuries from being struck with a baseball bat, stabbed with a knife and pistol-whipped with a handgun.
The suspects had fled the area just prior to police arriving at the scene.
The victims were taken to Ellenville Regional Hospital by the Ellenville Rescue Squad, where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation revealed there was a verbal dispute between one of the victims and one of the suspects earlier that evening.
The suspect left and later returned with three other subjects to confront the victim.
All the suspects were armed with a baseball bat, knives and a handgun when they located the intended target and attacked him.
The victim’s girlfriend came to his aid and was also attacked by the group.
Police recovered video of the incident along with one of the weapons involved.
“This was not a random attack, the victims were clearly sought out and assaulted by these subjects who were armed,” Chief Philip Mattracion said.
“We have identified all the suspects who range in age from 14 to 19 that were involved in this case, and it is believed that they will be in custody shortly.”
Ellenville Police were assisted by the New York State Police in Wawarsing.
