Nicholville woman arrested on drug charges in Norfolk

NORFOLK — Members of the New York State Police arrested Cortney L. Snyder, age 36, from Nicholville, on July 24.

She was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, criminal possession of a narcotic drug in the fourth degree, and two counts of criminal use of drug paraphernalia in the second degree.

At approximately 10:52 p.m. on the same day, troopers were traveling north on State Highway 420 in the town of Norfolk when they observed a 2009 Pontiac G8 violating a vehicle and traffic law.

They initiated a traffic stop and interviewed the driver, Kenneth J. Snyder, age 46, also from Nicholville, and the passenger, Cortney Snyder.

During the interview, a St. Lawrence County Deputy and K9 Knowlton arrived at the scene.

K9 Knowlton alerted the officers to the vehicle, prompting a search.

Cortney Snyder was found to be in possession of the drug paraphernalia and narcotics located inside the vehicle.

Kenneth Snyder was released with vehicle and traffic tickets.

Cortney Snyder was arrested and processed at SP Massena.

She was subsequently arraigned in the Town of Norfolk Court, where she was released on her own recognizance.

The New York State Police were assisted by the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department.
