UTICA — Two men were arrested during a traffic stop late July 23 on Churchill Avenue, according to Utica police.
Officers with the Crime Prevention Unit conducted the stop around 11:00 p.m. for violations of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.
Police determined the driver, Chad Prosser, 48, of Utica, was operating with a suspended driver’s license.
The passenger, Jeffrey Blanchard, 43, of Utica, was found to have an outstanding warrant through the Utica Police Department.
Both men were taken into custody following the identification checks.
During a search, officers recovered a narcotics smoking device from the driver.
Police say that more than 100 grams of methamphetamine were found on the passenger during a search.
Both individuals were transported to the Utica Police Department.
A Special Investigations Unit investigator was called in due to the quantity of narcotics located.
Prosser was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the seventh degree, aggravated unlicensed operation, and various vehicle and traffic law violations.
Blanchard was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree.
Utica police said the investigation is ongoing.
