Drug charges filed after Interstate 390 stop in Avon

LIVONIA — Two men face drug charges after a traffic stop on Interstate 390 in the Town of Avon on July 22 at approximately 6:00 p.m., according to Livingston County Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty.

Livingston County Sheriff’s Deputy Jason Page stopped a vehicle for a violation of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law while working with the Sheriff’s Office Highway Patrol Unit.

During the initial encounter, Deputy Page suspected drug activity and began an investigation with the assistance of his K9 partner, Rayder.

The vehicle’s occupants, Nathaniel Jenkins, 31, of Rochester, and Cyle Dailey, 33, of Hornell, were both found in possession of cocaine and crack cocaine.

Jenkins was charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree and felony criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree.

Dailey was charged with misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.

Both men were transported to the Livingston County Jail for arrest processing and pre-arraignment detention.

Jenkins was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part before Town of North Dansville Justice Werth, who released him on his own recognizance under the NYS Bail Reform Act.

Dailey was released from the jail with an appearance ticket.

Jenkins was represented by the Livingston County Public Defender’s Office at arraignment, while the Livingston County District Attorney’s Office represented the People.

Investigator Shawn Whitford and Deputy Hunter Wester assisted in the investigation.
