OLEAN — Two Olean-area residents were arrested and charged with multiple drug offenses following a traffic stop early July 24 on N. 12th St., according to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office.
Heather M. Chase, 33, of Olean, was taken into custody around 2:27 a.m., and Noelle R. Coen, 26, of Franklinville, was arrested at about 3:02 a.m.
Deputies said the stop was initiated for several alleged vehicle and traffic law violations.
During the stop, deputies observed drug paraphernalia in plain sight inside the vehicle.
Authorities reported that when both individuals exited the vehicle, a clear plastic baggie containing suspected crack cocaine fell from Chase’s shorts onto the ground.
Following a search of the vehicle, deputies stated that Coen was found in possession of about 15.13 grams of suspected psilocybin, crack cocaine, packaging materials, a scale, and a switchblade knife.
Chase was found with approximately 11.49 grams of suspected psilocybin and 2.68 grams of crack cocaine, according to the sheriff’s office.
Both Coen and Chase were transported to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office Olean Substation for processing.
Coen was charged with second-degree and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, failure to stop at a stop sign, and a signal violation.
Chase was charged with second-degree and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Authorities said both individuals were arraigned in the City of Olean Court and released under supervision.
Both are scheduled to appear again in City of Olean Court for further proceedings at a later date.
