ROCKLAND — The Rockland Police Department is investigating an incident in which a man grabbed a female dog walker in the Rockland Town Forest on Wednesday.
Police received a report from the woman after the encounter with a male party in the town forest, which is located on North Ave. by the Abington/Rockland town line and runs adjacent to Salem Street.
The woman was walking her dog when she encountered a man who made inappropriate comments to her.
As she tried to walk away, the man aggressively grabbed her arm.
The dog lunged at the man, causing him to let go of the woman.
The woman was then able to run out of the woods to her car.
Police described the suspect as a white male with a medium build and no facial hair, possibly in his 50s.
He had darker, short to medium length hair with some gray in it and was wearing a light-colored t-shirt, khaki shorts and athletic sneakers.
The man had no visible scars, markings or tattoos and did not have a distinct accent.
The Rockland Police Department searched the wooded area but did not locate the man.
Police are asking anyone with information about the suspect or home surveillance camera footage of anyone matching the description in the area of North Ave. and Salem Street between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. to contact the Rockland Police Department at 781-871-3890 ext. 0.
