BOSTON — A Sergeant Detective on patrol in the area of Dudley Street observed an operator of a parked vehicle retrieve a cross-body bag from the engine block of the vehicle at about 8:35 p.m. Wednesday.
The supervisor made further observations of the vehicle traveling towards 18 Greenville Street and parking in the private lot.
Additional units were requested to respond to conduct a further investigation.
Officers observed that the vehicle was parked in the last spot in front of several trash dumpsters.
Officers could see numerous visible posted signs reading “No Parking,” “No Trespassing,” and “Dumpster Rules: Residents Only.”
The operator was seen outside of the driver’s side door, and officers immediately recognized him from past encounters.
Officers made contact with the front passenger of the vehicle, and knew that both occupants were not residents of the building.
Officers requested the operator to step to the rear of the vehicle, and a pat frisk was conducted.
Officers located a firearm that was inside the cross-body bag that was seen on top of the driver’s seat.
Both occupants were placed into handcuffs and District B-2 Detectives were requested to respond.
The firearm was later determined to be a Glock 26 with one round in the chamber and nine rounds in the magazine.
Richardson Cadet, 24, of Mattapan, was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
Cadet faces charges including carrying a firearm without a license, second offense; carrying a loaded firearm without a license; possession of ammunition without an FID card; possession of a large capacity firearm; firearm violation with one prior violent/drug crime; and trespassing.
