LIVONIA — A 41-year-old woman was arrested on felony driving while intoxicated charges after a traffic stop with two children in her vehicle, the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputy Hunter Wester conducted the traffic stop on Adams Road July 15 at approximately 9:27 p.m. after observing a violation of state vehicle and traffic law.

The driver was identified as Jaclyn West of Livonia.

Wester suspected West was under the influence of alcohol and conducted a DWI investigation, including standardized field sobriety tests.

West was taken into custody after the roadside investigation.

The presence of two children, ages 12 and 10, in the vehicle made the arrest a felony under Leandra’s Law.

West was transported to the Sheriff’s Office headquarters in Geneseo, where she was offered a chemical breath test.

Deputy Korey Gillen administered the test, which revealed West had a blood alcohol content of .08%.

West was charged with felony driving while intoxicated under Leandra’s Law, two counts of misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child, and violations of state vehicle and traffic law.

She was transported to the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention.

West was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part before Town of Lima Justice Harris.

The judge released West on her own recognizance as the offenses do not qualify for bail under the state Bail Reform Act.

The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office represented West at the arraignment.

The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office represented the People.
