GLASTONBURY — A 55-year-old woman with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia who went missing Tuesday afternoon was found safe in a wooded area about 1.5 miles from her home.
Joni O’Toole was located with the assistance of Connecticut State Police K9 teams after disappearing during a walk from her residence on Birch Mountain Road.
Members of the Glastonbury Police Department responded to the missing person report at approximately 5:30 p.m. on July 22.
O’Toole was last seen on a walk from her home earlier in the afternoon, wearing a light blue Winnie the Pooh t-shirt and shorts.
She was transported out of the woods with the assistance of a Glastonbury Fire Department All Terrain Vehicle.
O’Toole was subsequently taken to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The search involved assistance from the Glastonbury Fire Department, drones from South Windsor Police Department and Rocky Hill Fire Department, as well as Connecticut State Police K9 units.
