NORFOLK — Members of the New York State Police arrested an 18-year-old male and Austin J. Eibert, age 20, both from Massena, on July 20.

They were charged with grand larceny in the third degree, possession of burglary tools, attempted grand larceny in the fourth degree (motor vehicle), and two counts of criminal mischief in the third degree.

At approximately 6:37 a.m. on the same day, Troopers responded to State Route 420 in the town of Norfolk after receiving a report about an abandoned vehicle involved in a property damage accident.

Upon arrival, they found a 2008 Pontiac that had left the roadway and struck a mailbox.

The owner of the vehicle was contacted and reported that the car had been taken without permission by an unknown individual.

While investigating this incident, Troopers were notified about another burglary on Lacomb Road in Norfolk, where two males were attempting to steal a vehicle.

As Troopers conducted their investigation, they located two males who matched the provided description.

The suspects fled into a wooded area but were later found and arrested.

The two individuals were identified as Eibert and the 18-year-old male.

They were processed at SP Massena and subsequently arraigned in the Town of Norfolk Court.

Eibert was released under probation supervision, while the 18-year-old male was released on his own recognizance.
