HARTLAND — Two brothers were charged with straw purchasing firearms for their federally prohibited sibling after coming to claim weapons at the Windsor County Sheriff’s Office on July 21.
Lars Thoms, 27, and Roger Thoms, 24, both of Thetford, were cited at approximately 10:30 a.m. when they attempted to retrieve firearms that had belonged to their brother Jon Thoms.
Jon Thoms is federally prohibited from owning or possessing firearms and was arrested by the Windsor County Sheriff’s Department following a domestic violence incident in Hartland on July 5.
The brothers were charged with straw purchase of firearms under 13 VSA 4025.
Both men were processed and released with citations to appear in Windsor County court on Sept. 16 at 8:30 a.m.
