WATERBURY — Officers from the Waterbury Police Department’s Auto Theft Task Force were actively patrolling the area of Oakville Avenue and Eastern Avenue on July 21 when they observed a 2015 blue Audi Q5 reported stolen out of Bristol.
Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop, at which point the stolen Audi reversed into a police cruiser.
The driver, later identified as Jaydan Garcia, 18, of Waterbury, was apprehended without incident.
The passenger, identified as Nayelli Orozco, 18, of Danbury, was also taken into custody without incident.
During the investigation, officers seized $317 in U.S. currency and marijuana packaged for sale.
Garcia was charged with unsafe backing, interfering with an officer, criminal mischief in the first degree, larceny of a motor vehicle (second offense), possession of marijuana with intent to sell and operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license.
Orozco was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle (first offense) and interfering with an officer.
