South Windsor police arrest man in equipment vandalism case

SOUTH WINDSOR — South Windsor police arrested Victor T. Smith, 35, who is homeless, on Monday on an active warrant for criminal mischief in the second degree.

Smith was taken into custody at 3:30 p.m. on charges stemming from a June vandalism incident at MB Tractor and Equipment at 1249 John Fitch Boulevard.

Police determined Smith poured an oily substance on several pieces of equipment, causing damage of just under $1,000.

Smith was initially arrested by Glastonbury police and then transferred to South Windsor police custody.

He was processed and held on a $15,000 surety bond.

Smith was scheduled to be transported to Manchester Superior Court at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
