Homer man arrested on sex abuse charges from 2014

HOMER — A 29-year-old Homer man was arrested July 17 on felony sex abuse charges stemming from an alleged incident that occurred in 2014.

Brandon S. Thornton of US Route 11 was charged with first-degree sex abuse, a felony, and forcible touching, a misdemeanor, according to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.

Officers received a report June 18 of sex abuse allegations that occurred between June and September 2014 at an undisclosed location in the Town of Homer.

The investigation revealed that Thornton had subjected a victim known to him to inappropriate sexual contact during the summer of 2014, according to the sheriff’s office.

Thornton was arrested at 3:16 p.m. July 17 and transported to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office for processing.

He was arraigned at 8 p.m. July 17 through the Centralized Arraignment Process and released on his own recognizance.

Thornton is scheduled to appear in Town of Homer Court on Aug. 5 at 5 p.m.
