Motorcyclist crashes into tree on Route 14 in Irasburg

IRASBURG — A 65-year-old Albany man crashed his motorcycle into a tree on Route 14 near Mill Road on July 21 at 7:30 p.m.

Peter Riha was operating a 2012 Harley Davidson Fat Boy when he was traveling too fast for roadway conditions coming into a corner and was unable to successfully negotiate the turn, according to Vermont State Police.

Riha traveled off the roadway and crashed into a tree.

He sustained injuries to his leg and lacerations to his face and was transported to North Country Hospital.

Riha was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The motorcycle sustained damage to the rear fender, fuel tank and headlight.

Weather conditions were clear and road conditions were dry at the time of the single-vehicle crash.

Irasburg Fire Department, Orleans Ambulance, Newport Ambulance and B&B Motorsports responded to assist.

Riha was issued a Vermont Civil Violation Complaint with a $220 fine.
