DOVER-FOXCROFT — Two convicted felons were taken into custody following a multi-agency investigation that began July 18 and concluded July 19.
At approximately 6:30 a.m. July 18, the Dover-Foxcroft Police Department responded to a report of a disturbance at 23 Country Meadows Lane.
Officers gathered information indicating that at least one subject had been involved in an incident in the Bangor area earlier that morning.
A subsequent investigation identified Ryan Mooreside, 36, of Shapleigh, and Dilan McDougal, 32, of Orrington, as occupants of an apartment within the Country Meadows Lane Apartment Complex.
Both individuals are convicted felons with extensive criminal histories.
Evidence confirmed that they were in possession of firearms, prompting officers to obtain a search warrant for the residence.
The Maine State Police Tactical Team was requested to execute the warrant due to the nature of the offenses and the subjects’ criminal backgrounds.
Prior to execution, Mooreside, McDougal, and a female associate had left the apartment.
The search was completed without incident.
At approximately 5:22 p.m. that day, Dover-Foxcroft Police responded to the Irving gas station on W. Main Street for a report of a possible hostage situation.
Responding officers identified McDougal as one of the suspects and took him into custody without incident.
Information obtained at the scene indicated that Mooreside had fled the area with the female associate and was considered armed and dangerous.
The Maine State Police Tactical Team assisted in conducting an extensive search into the night, though Mooreside was not immediately located.
On July 19, Dover-Foxcroft officers coordinated with county, state, and federal law enforcement partners.
At approximately 2:30 p.m., a tip led authorities to a wooded area between W. Main Street and the Piscataquis River, where Mooreside and the female were found.
Mooreside was taken into custody without incident.
Mooreside has been charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
He is also being held on a probation violation.
McDougal has been charged with drug-related offenses and is also being held on a probation violation.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges are expected.
