RICHMONDVILLE — A wanted man died after a police standoff at a residence on Badeau Lane on July 17.
State Police located Kenneth R. Meyers, 31, of Cobleskill, during an ongoing investigation.
A warrant for Meyers’ arrest had been issued by Schoharie County Court on June 9 after he failed to appear for a scheduled trial on felony drug possession charges.
Meyers had been released pre-trial with an ankle monitoring device, which he cut off on or about June 9.
At approximately 3:30 p.m. on July 17, troopers responded to 113 Badeau Lane with assistance from the State Police Special Operations Team.
Meyers and an adult female were inside the residence at the time.
The woman exited the residence without incident at approximately 4:00 p.m.
Meyers did not follow orders to exit and would not speak to State Police members during negotiation attempts.
At approximately 7:05 p.m., after multiple failed attempts to contact Meyers, State Police SORT entered the home and found him unresponsive.
He was transported to Cobleskill Hospital and then airlifted to Albany Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition.
The New York State Attorney General’s Office was notified.
On July 18 at 6:57 a.m., Meyers was declared deceased at Albany Medical Center.
His cause of death is pending investigation and autopsy.
