SENNETT — A 17-year-old male was arrested on driving while intoxicated charges following a single-vehicle crash that occurred July 8 at 12:36 a.m., according to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Brian Schenck said deputies responded to the area of Grant Avenue Road and Mutton Hill Road for a reported motor vehicle accident.
An investigation determined a pickup truck was traveling west on Grant Avenue Road when it crossed into the oncoming lane and exited the roadway to the south, striking multiple road signs and a parked vehicle.
The pickup truck then returned to the roadway before exiting again to the north and striking the curb at the intersection of Grant Avenue Road and Mutton Hill Road.
The juvenile driver and sole occupant was determined to be operating the vehicle while intoxicated.
He was arrested at 1:02 a.m. and brought to the Public Safety Building for processing, where he provided a breath sample showing a blood alcohol content of .20%.
The teen was charged with DWI first offense, aggravated DWI and other traffic infractions.
He was released on uniform traffic tickets returnable to Sennett Town Court on July 16.
