Waterbury police arrest 2 men on drug charges during motorcycle stops

WATERBURY — Two men were arrested on drug and traffic charges during separate motorcycle stops conducted by the Waterbury Police Department’s Traffic Services Unit over two consecutive days.

On July 16, an officer was patrolling Hillside Avenue when they stopped a Tank Pro 200 motorcycle for traffic violations.

Police seized $840 in cash, 5.91 ounces of marijuana and 7.5 grams of cocaine during the investigation.

Brandon Espinal, 27, of Waterbury, was charged with operating an unregistered motorcycle, operating a motorcycle without insurance, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, operating a motorcycle without endorsement and operating a motorcycle without face protection.

On July 17, officers patrolling East Main Street stopped a red Tank Pro motorcycle for traffic violations.

Police seized 21.7 grams of crack cocaine and $140 in cash.

Gamalier Rivera, 33, of Waterbury, was charged with operating a motorcycle without insurance, operating a motorcycle without endorsement, operating an unregistered motorcycle, operating a motorcycle without face protection and possession of narcotics with intent to sell.

Police said all motorized vehicles over 50cc or capable of exceeding 30 mph must be registered and insured in Connecticut.
