Georgia man arrested on DUI charge after standing in roadway

GEORGIA — Vermont State Police arrested a Burlington man on a DUI charge after receiving multiple calls about someone standing in the roadway next to his vehicle.

Police received the calls at approximately 7:29 p.m. July 17 reporting a male standing in the roadway next to his vehicle on Ethan Allen Highway.

Troopers responded to the scene and identified the male as Cris Gates, 41, of Burlington.

While speaking with Gates, troopers observed multiple signs of impairment.

After a thorough investigation, Gates was taken into custody and transported to the St. Albans State Police Barracks for processing.

Gates was issued a criminal citation to appear in Franklin County Superior Court – Criminal Division on July 29 at 8:30 a.m. for the charge of DUI.
