2 injured in Waterbury crash on rainy evening

WATERBURY — Troopers from the Berlin barracks responded to a two-car crash at 6:19 p.m. Thursday in the area of 2657 Waterbury Stowe Road near the Cabot Creamery Store.

Rose T. Bernardine, 24, of Bolton was attempting to pull out and travel north on Waterbury Stowe Road when she pulled in front of Jeffrey Scott Mandelkow, 43, of Oak Harbor, Washington, who was traveling south, according to state police.

Both drivers sustained minor injuries in the crash.

Bernardine was transported to UVM Medical Center while Mandelkow was not transported by emergency medical services.

Both vehicles sustained front-end damage and were towed from the scene due to disabling damage.

Bernardine was driving a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek and Mandelkow was operating a 2021 Audi Q7.

Road conditions were wet due to rain at the time of the crash.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, police said.
