2 arrested in Walton after reckless driving incident

WALTON — Two people were arrested after a verbal dispute led to a reckless driving incident through the village and onto State Highway 10.

Delaware County Sheriff Craig DuMond announced the arrests following an incident on July 7.

Sheriff’s deputies received a complaint about a vehicle being followed by another vehicle in an aggressive manner.

Deputies located both vehicles and conducted traffic stops.

The investigation determined that following a verbal dispute between the two parties, both operated their vehicles recklessly through the Village of Walton and continuing onto State Highway 10 toward Delhi.

Hazzie Halstead, 19, of Walton, was charged with reckless driving, an unclassified misdemeanor.

Halstead was also issued traffic summonses for moving from lane unsafely and failing to stop at a steady red signal in the Village of Walton.

Additional traffic summonses were issued to Halstead in the Town of Hamden for non-transparent windows, speeding 85 mph in a 55 mph zone, obstructed driver’s view and no front plate.

Aron Garcia-Northrup, 18, of Walton, was charged with reckless driving, an unclassified misdemeanor.

Garcia-Northrup was also issued a traffic summons for moving from lane unsafely.

Both are scheduled to appear in Village of Walton and Town of Hamden courts at a later date.
