SOUTH WINDSOR — Police arrested a Massachusetts man on theft charges after he allegedly stole an iPad from his workplace at FedEx on Kennedy Road.
Jorge Y. Adorno, 22, of Springfield, Massachusetts, was taken into custody at 5:24 a.m. Wednesday at FedEx, located at 40 Kennedy Road.
Police responded to reports that an employee had stolen an iPad from the facility.
Adorno was processed and released on a $5,000 non-surety bond.
He is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on July 30 at 9 a.m.
In a separate incident, police arrested a local man on multiple charges after finding him slumped over the wheel of a vehicle.
Jeremy M. Richard, 42, of South Windsor, was arrested at 6:46 a.m. Wednesday in the area of Abbe Road and Garnet Lane.
Police responded to reports of a man slumped over the wheel of a vehicle positioned on the wrong side of the road.
During the investigation, officers determined Richard was under the influence.
Richard consented to standardized field sobriety tests, which he failed.
An inventory search of his vehicle revealed wax folds used to store suspected narcotics, cut straws commonly used to snort narcotics, and a sledgehammer under the front passenger seat.
Richard was charged with operating under the influence, use of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance, and illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle.
He was held on a $25,000 surety bond and appeared in Manchester Superior Court on Thursday.
