NORWALK — A 60-year-old Norwalk man was arrested July 16 on charges of sexually assaulting a 5-year-old child.
Jose Rodriguez of 8 Ferris Ave. was taken into custody at his residence without incident by detectives from the Norwalk Police Department’s Special Victims Unit.
The investigation began March 20 when patrol officers responded to a report involving a child who disclosed being the victim of repeated sexual assaults.
The child identified Rodriguez as the suspect, according to police.
Detective English led the investigation with support from the Connecticut Department of Children and Families, The Children’s Connection, Yale New Haven Hospital, and the Stamford Superior Court State’s Attorney’s Office.
An arrest warrant was issued by Stamford Superior Court on July 16 following the extensive investigation.
Rodriguez is charged with sexual assault in the first degree and risk of injury to a minor.
He is being held on $1 million bond and is scheduled to appear in court July 17.
