PORTLAND — On Tuesday, July 15 at 12:49 p.m., Portland Police responded to a crash at the intersection of Mellen and Sherman Streets involving a motor vehicle and a scooter.
Witnesses state that a 12-year-old male from Portland was driving an electric scooter the wrong way on Sherman Street and crossed through the intersection without stopping, before being struck by a vehicle driven by a 33-year-old man from Portland.
The victim was transported to Maine Medical Center with serious injuries.
The Portland Police Department and its Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating the incident and no charges are expected to be filed.
