WESTMORELAND — A three-car crash at the intersection of Cooper Street and Creaser Road injured two people Tuesday morning, according to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident occurred at approximately 7:37 a.m. when Karen Wands, 52, of Blossvale, failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign while driving a red 2019 Dodge Durango southbound on Creaser Road, Sheriff Robert M. Maciol said.
Paul Ford, 61, of Oriskany Falls, was driving a white 2016 Lincoln sedan eastbound on Cooper Street when his vehicle collided with the rear passenger quarter panel of Wands’ vehicle.
The initial collision caused Wands’ vehicle to propel into the northbound lane of Creaser Road, where it collided head-on with a red 2021 BMW SUV driven by Wendy Hutchings, 48, of Westmoreland.
After the second collision, Wands’ vehicle was propelled eastward into a series of trees on the eastern shoulder of Creaser Road.
Hutchings’ vehicle came to rest in the middle of Creaser Road just south of the Cooper Street intersection.
Ford’s vehicle rotated 180 degrees and exited the roadway to the southern shoulder, coming to rest in the front yard of a Cooper Street address.
Wands was transported by AmCare Ambulance to Wynn Hospital for complaints of neck pain, with injuries considered non-life threatening.
Hutchings was transported by AmCare Ambulance to Wynn Hospital for complaints of pain to her right leg and left arm, with injuries considered non-life threatening.
Ford was evaluated at the scene and declined further medical assistance.
Wands was issued a universal traffic summons for failure to yield right of way at a stop sign, returnable to Westmoreland Town Court at a later date.
The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the sheriff’s office ID Unit, New York State Police, Westmoreland Fire Department and AmCare Ambulance.
