DUDLEY — A 48-year-old man was arrested Tuesday morning in connection with the theft of more than $20,000 worth of jewelry from a local resident.
John V. Lopez of 7 Lyons Road was taken into custody at approximately 7:42 a.m. when Dudley and Southbridge police executed a search warrant at his residence.
The investigation began Saturday when Sgt. Philip Megas and Officer Byron Lara took a report from a victim who reported missing jewelry valued at over $20,000.
Officers Byron Lara and Tyler Smith investigated the case and obtained both an arrest warrant for Lopez and a search warrant for his home.
Police recovered some of the stolen jewelry along with other evidence during the search.
Lopez was transported to Dudley District Court for arraignment on charges including breaking and entering a building during daytime for felony, larceny from building, larceny over $1,200, larceny over $250 from a person over 60 or disabled, trespassing, and receiving stolen property over $1,200.
