ANSONIA — Jose Morales was sentenced to 65 years in prison this morning by Judge Murphy for the homicide of Christine Holloway and tampering with evidence.

Morales received 60 years for his conviction in Holloway’s homicide and 5 years for tampering with evidence in the case.

Chief Williams and the Ansonia Police Department offered condolences to Holloway’s family and friends, expressing hope the sentence brings closure.

The department recognized the jury’s deliberation in reaching their verdict and the work of Senior Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney Howie Stein, Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Marc Durso, Inspector Hyatt, Inspector Winkler and staff of the Ansonia/Milford State’s Attorney Office.

The Ansonia Police Department continues investigating the disappearance of Vanessa Morales.

Holloway’s homicide was one aspect of the investigation, and police said their next goal is determining what happened to Vanessa Morales.

The Detective Bureau continually reviews the case and will begin reviewing court transcripts for new information.

Police released two photos of Vanessa Morales — one from 2019 and an age-progressed photo to 2025.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the police department at 203-735-1885 or leave anonymous tips at Tip411.
